Keep the Office Clean With This Winter Checklist

Winter can be one of the hardest seasons on your office. The windows stay closed and the air gets stale. Everyone gets sick and scatters germs around. Employees and clients track salt, snow, ice, and mud inside and all over your floors. A little extra effort is needed to maintain cleanliness. This checklist will help you keep your office in top shape.

Keep the Salt off the Floors

Salt comes in with the snow, and after the snow melts, the water dries and leaves a dusty residue. This isn’t difficult to clean up from hard flooring. Warm water and vinegar make a good cleaning solution to mop your floors. You may need to do it multiple times each day, but it will be well worth it.

Sweep the Carpets

When salt and other contaminants get ground into the carpet, they are harder to get out. Winter may be a good time to get a professional carpet cleaning. Frequent use of the regular vacuum cleaner is also a good idea.

Disinfect

When everyone has a runny nose and cough, you can be sure germs are swarming over all the surfaces. The bathroom and break room are the worst, along with other high traffic areas. Use a disinfectant cleaner at least once per day on these danger zones.

Freshen the Air

With the windows tightly shut, dust, germs and other pollutants build up inside. To make sure your employees aren’t breathing them in all day, use the furniture polish and duster. It may be a good idea to clean the air ducts, too.

Winter brings its challenges, but you don’t have to be caught off guard. Stay ahead of the mess with these ideas and you can have a healthier winter season. You may just find employee sick day use going down.
